Colon Hydrotherapy

What is Colon Hydrotherapy?

Colon Hydrotherapy is a safe, therapeutic process administered by a state licensed Colon Therapist. Colon Hydrotherapy uses filtered, temperature controlled water for inner cleansing of the entire colon … our large intestine. By stripping down the old, toxic mucous lining of the bowel, a major source of disease in the body is removed. Then, the bowel is able to function efficiently for waste elimination and nutrient absorption, both of which are essential to any lasting healing process. Colon Hydrotherapy is also an important first step toward normalizing the pH environment of the bowel so that necessary, helpful bacteria will return and thrive.

For added benefits we include oxygen when requested.

Is Colon Hydrotherapy embarrassing?

While you rest in the privacy of the colon room, the therapist will gently insert a small tube into the rectum. The tube carries the warm, filtered water in and out, using a gently pressurized system – no mess, no fuss, no odor. In fact, a very relaxing experience for most people. A professional certified therapist monitors the temperature and pressure of the water. You are completely covered during the entire procedure, resting comfortably on the table.

How long does a session last?

Approximately 35 to 45 minutes.

Is the procedure uncomfortable?

Rarely. An impacted colon may cause some discomfort and some cramping as the colon contracts to expel the waste. Most patients say the process is mild and gentle, with a light and empty feeling afterwards.

Can someone become dependent on it?

Could the colon stop functioning on its own?

Sometimes. A very sick colon may even temporarily shut down and the shape can become very distorted. Colon Hydrotherapy tones the colon muscle so it doesn’t perform sluggishly and helps to eliminate protruding pockets and spastic constrictions. Multiple Colon Hydrotherapy will encourage the colon to resume its natural shape and function.

Will one cleansing completely empty the colon?

Almost never. Some of us have ten or more pounds of impacted mucous and feces in our colon. This build-up becomes a hardened, rubbery material and substantial work must be done to remove it. The first cleansing removes some, the second more. Your personal objectives will determine how many you wish to have. An initial series of three to six treatments is recommended. Years of improper nutrition cannot be reversed in a few treatments. More treatments may be required in cases of chronic constipation or an atonic (sluggish) colon.

What about the use of laxatives or enemas?

Laxatives relieve constipation by interfering with the colon’s ability to eliminate normally on its own. The chemicals contained in laxatives irritate and stimulate the colon to abnormally contract, an effort to expel the irritating substance. In addition, oral laxatives can interfere with normal digestive processes that occur in the stomach and the small intestine. Most laxatives precipitate dehydration in the individual … and enemas only cleanse the rectum and the last several inches of the colon, missing the majority of the large intestine.

How should I prepare for Colon Hydrotherapy?

Fresh and raw (uncooked) food passes through the digestive tract faster than cooked food. Fresh foods will also help soften materials that are trapped in the colon. Digestion and elimination are quicker, which prepares the colon for easier, faster and more thorough cleansing. If you can, it is helpful to prepare for your Colon Hydrotherapy session by following these guidelines for two or three days.

Try to drink lots of water (preferably purified, filtered water) and apple juice. Apple Juice supports the liver in releasing toxins during Colon Hydrotherapy. Both the water and the apple juice hydrate your system. If the system is not hydrated, the body tries to meet its need for water by absorption through the colon walls. This can slow the rate of releasing toxins during cleansing and also return toxins to the bloodstream.

Try to avoid bananas, white potatoes, tomatoes or unsprouted nuts or seeds during this time. These foods can sometimes cause colon slowdown in some people. You might also want to avoid cauliflower, broccoli, onions, garlic, cabbage, beets or Brussels sprouts. These can sometimes result in gas build-up, which can block good colon release.
If fresh and raw foods are insupportable for you, try eating baked sweet potatoes, yams or garnets with brown rice and a fresh green salad. The ‘orange’ part of the sweet potato helps support the liver for good action during Colon Hydrotherapy and the brown rice absorbs toxins.

On the day of your appointment, don’t eat more than a light meal prior to your session … and it’s a good idea to avoid caffeine.

Rebuilding a healthy colon after Colon Hydrotherapy

After your first treatment, it is advisable to have a series of three treatments, four times a year (or as the seasons change) to maintain optimal colon health. Patients should come back between maintenance sessions if colon problems recur. After cleansing, dietary changes are essential to properly restore healthy tissue and experience wholesome energy. All of the beneficial results of Colon Hydrotherapy can be negated by an unhealthy diet.

The following are basic food guidelines for colon health:

  • Eat more fresh, raw foods
  • Eat more natural foods (unprocessed, unrefined, un-tampered and grown naturally)
  • Eat lots of whole foods with unrefined carbohydrates
  • Limit fats to those beneficial oils like olive oil, fish oil, flax seed oil, safflower oil, etc.
  • Eat slowly, chewing your food well
  • Avoid overeating
  • Drink half your weight in ounces of purified water each day.
  • A good rule of thumb when looking at food packaging: If you can’t pronounce it, or you don’t understand why it’s in there – don’t eat it!
